Buying a Singapore home near primary schools and childcare
Compare school-distance evidence, childcare options and practical journeys before choosing a Singapore family home.

Start with the exact home address
A development name or a pin on a map is not enough to establish a Primary 1 distance category. Different blocks and school boundaries can matter. Use nearby-school lists to shortlist options, then check the actual address with OneMap School Query and the current MOE registration guidance. Proximity does not guarantee admission.
Compare childcare by age group and date
Look for a centre that offers the age group your child needs, suitable opening hours and a practical drop-off journey. ECDA publishes centre information and vacancy fields, but availability can change. A dated published vacancy is a lead to confirm with the centre, not a reserved place. Check the observation date and the applicable month.
Test the whole morning journey
Compare the walk from the home entrance to childcare, then the onward journey to work. A short straight-line distance can conceal an inconvenient crossing or entrance. Repeat the route at the time you would normally travel and consider wet-weather access. Our household comparison keeps the two destinations private.
Compare the housing evidence too
Open each home’s transaction page and use a similar size and property type. A price difference between two homes cannot be attributed solely to a school: tenure, condition, floor and location may differ. Keep a shortlist of acceptable schools and centres so the decision does not depend on one uncertain outcome.
